Cawood Ledford broadcast a race at Keeneland Race Course in April 1964. Ledford was better known as “the voice of the Wildcats” for 39 years as the play-by-play announcer for the University of Kentucky basketball and football teams from 1953 to 1992. His last UK basketball game was “the Christian Laettner” game in the NCAA Tournament regional final on March 28, 1992, when Kentucky fell to Duke 104-103 in overtime.
