First Lexington baby of the new year, 1979

Amy Leean Johnson, who arrived at 5:15 a.m. Monday January 1, 1979, who became the New Year's first baby in Lexington, held on to the work-worn hand of her farmer-daddy, Orville Johnson, 21, of Winchester. Amy Leean, 8-pound, 5-ounce infant, was born at the University of Kentucky Medical Center, and she and her mommy, Annette, 17, were reported in good condition. Photo by Christy Porter | Staff

Amy Leean Johnson, who arrived at 5:15 a.m. on  Jan. 1, 1979, becoming the first Lexington baby of the new year, held on to the work-worn hand of her farmer-daddy, Orville Johnson, 21, of Winchester. Amy Leean weighed 8 pounds, 5 ounces when she was born at the University of Kentucky Hospital. She and her mother, Annette, 17, were reported in good condition. Photo by Christy Porter | Staff
