The American Legion color guard passed the reviewing stand on Main Street, across from the courthouse, during the Veterans Day Parade in Lexington on Nov. 12, 1956. An estimated 5,000 people withstood chilly temperatures and gusty wind during the parade. Two Air Force planes, North American T-28 Trojans, buzzed the parade route.
