Guthrie was a novelist, screenwriter, historian, and literary historian who won the Pulitzer Prize for fiction in 1950 for his novel The Way West. He also worked for 22 years as a reporter and editor at the Lexington Leader. Warren was a poet, novelist, and literary critic. He won the Pulitzer Prize for fiction in 1946 for his novel All the King’s Men and Pulitzers for poetry in 1958 and 1979. He was born in Guthrie, near Clarksville, Tenn.
