Riley Rose of Winchester peered into a window of Barett Shoes in the Regency Shopping Center, 2335 Nicholasville Road in Lexington, where a car landed after crashing through the window on July 31, 1992. No one was injured. The driver, Stewart C. Morris, 78, of Frankfort, told accident investigators that he heard a loud noise after he started his car. The car accelerated quickly and jumped into reverse, then clipped another car and jumped a median and a curb. “I don’t know if there was a driver error or something wrong with the vehicle,” Safety Officer Bart Coonce said. “He’s going to have it checked out.” Coonce said Morris had a good driving record: “He’d never been in an accident before.”  Photo by David Stephenson | Staff
