Kentucky State Fair mule contest, 1985

L.C. Tabor of Allen County tried to get his mules’ attention as he waited for the judge in the mule-showing contest at the Kentucky State Fair on Aug. 22, 1985, in Louisville. Tabor, who raised and sold show mules, died in February 2015. He didn’t miss a state fair in 56 years, according to his obituary. This year’s fair continues through Sunday.
