Schlondia Jackson, 12, a sixth-grader at Russell Elementary School, demonstrated her karate moves in April 1986. Jackson took her first karate lesson in fall 1985 and was at that time a junior champion. She won first place in the open-hand kata, first place in kumite and fourth place in precision kata with partner Anthony Adams at the Kentucky Junior Karate Championship on April 12, 1986, at Eastern Kentucky University in Richmond.
