The Shawnee Chief, left, piloted by Jim Harney, led a group of boats near the end of the Admiral’s Day Parade on Aug. 31, 1986, on the Kentucky River at Fort Boonesborough State Park. The Shawnee Chief was an excursion boat berthed at the state park and ran tourists up and down the river from April until October.
