New Circle Road construction, 1960

Construction of New Circle Road at Leestown Road, November 1960. A railroad track and Town Branch runs along the bottom of the photo, and the Meadowthorpe neighborhood is at top right. The area in the middle on the right side is now a mix of hotels, stores, townhouses and restaurants including Applebee’s, Zaxby’s and Taco Bell. Further to the right of that is what became the Meadowthorpe Shopping Center, which includes a Kroger store. At far left in the middle is what is now Leestown Middle School.
